Mapping Recombination Landscape and Basidial Spore Number in the Button Mushroom Agaricus bisporus

چکیده
The button mushroom Agaricus bisporus is represented mainly by two varieties, a secondarily homothallic variety with predominantly heterokaryotic spores per basidia and heterothallic four homokaryotic spored basidium. Both varieties also differ in their recombination landscape the former showing crossovers (CO) at chromosome ends whereas latter has more evenly distribution of CO over chromosomes. are compatible, this been used to study segregation basidial spore number (BSN) genomic positions recombination, i.e., landscape, order find underlying genetic determinants. Knowledge on genes controlling might facilitate either conservation favorable allele combinations or disruption unwanted reduce linkage drag. For BSN, total seven QTL were found major 1 explaining ca. 55% phenotypic variation. It appeared, however, difficult map landscape. This phenotype can only be assessed meiotic offspring an intervarietal hybrid which laborious task. Nevertheless, was done, we able three QTLs for trait, one 2 not overlapping BSN. hurdles encountered discussed new strategy proposed that solves these. Whole-genome Sequencing of the Cultivated Button Mushroom Agaricus Bisporus:
The culmination of the first half-century of investigations into the genome of Agaricus bisporus was marked by the first whole-genome sequencing for a strain of this species. The genome of a second strain of A. bisporus was sequenced the following year. While a structural view of the genome is now effectively complete, functional interpretations of the many gene sequences, supported by accumula...
متن کاملLignin-Degrading Enzymes of the Commercial Button Mushroom, Agaricus bisporus.
Agaricus bisporus, grown under standard composting conditions, was evaluated for its ability to produce lignin-degrading peroxidases, which have been shown to have an integral role in lignin degradation by wood-rotting fungi. The activity of manganese peroxidase was monitored throughout the production cycle of the fungus, from the time of colonization of the compost through the development of f...
متن کاملInheritance of Strain Instability (Sectoring) in the Commercial Button Mushroom, Agaricus bisporus.
The button mushroom, Agaricus bisporus, is a commercially important cultivated filamentous fungus. During the last decade, the button mushroom industry has depended mainly on two strains (or derivatives of these two strains). Using one of these highly successful strains (strain U1) we examined the phenomenon of strain instability, specifically, the production of irreversible sectors. Three "str...
متن کاملGenetic and Biochemical Characterization of Monokaryotic Progeny Strains of Button Mushroom (Agaricus bisporus)
To promote the selection of promising monokaryotic strains of button mushroom (Agaricus bisporus) during breeding, 61 progeny strains derived from basidiospores of two different lines of dikaryotic parental strains, ASI1038 and ASI1346, were analyzed by nucleotide sequencing of the intergenic spacer I (IGS I) region in their rDNA and by extracellular enzyme assays. Nineteen different sizes of I...
متن کاملSensitivity of Cladobotryum spp., a Pathogen of the button Mushroom (Agaricus bisporus), to Some Fungicides
Thirteen isolates of Cladobotryum spp., isolated from diseased fruiting bodies of Agaricus bisporus, sampled from mushroom farms in Serbia during 2003-2006, were studied. Sensitivity to several selected fungicides was tested and all isolates were found to be highly sensitive to iprodione (EC50 = 0.35-2.30 mg L-1), benomyl (EC50 = 0.14-0.97 mg L-1) and especially to prochloraz-Mn (EC50 = 0.02-0....
